VIRTUE OF THE MONTH
- COURAGE -
Christian courage is a "Godward strength of soul" that enables believers to do what is right and necessary despite difficulty or danger. It is rooted in the fear of the Lord, reliance on His promises, and trust in His presence and power. This courage is distinct from worldly bravery because it stems from faith in God and a desire to glorify Him
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” - Joshua 1:9
Practical ways to live out humility in everyday life include:
Meditate on God's promises (e.g., John 16:33, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 31:24, Deuteronomy 31:6, John 16:33).
Pray for boldness as seen in Acts 4:29-31.
Surround yourself with supportive believers who encourage faithfulness.
Reflect on past instances where God has been faithful to build confidence for future challenges.
Study the biblical examples of courage.
David vs. Goliath (1 Samuel 17): David faced Goliath with confidence in God's deliverance, demonstrating courage rooted in faith
Esther's Risk (Esther 4:16): Esther risked her life to save her people by approaching King Xerxes uninvited, trusting God's plan
Daniel in the Lions' Den (Daniel 6): Daniel defied a royal edict to pray to God, showing unwavering devotion despite the threat of death
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3): These men refused to bow to an idol, trusting that God could deliver them from the fiery furnace
